I just returned from PRSA ICON in Washington, D.C., and my mind--and heart--are full. Between inspiring sessions, meaningful conversations with peers, and even a memorable Lyft ride from Reagan National Airport (my driver, a furloughed D.C. police officer who dreams of trading her badge for farmland), I was reminded once again that listening--really listening--is still one of our greatest superpowers as communicators.

ON THE MOVE & EMBRACING CHANGE? 2025 ECD CONFERENCE LEAVES NO DOUBT

The 2025 PRSA “Leave No Doubt” East Central District Conference on Sept. 13 left no doubt about what it pledged to deliver. The goal was for attendees to leave Dublin, Ohio with new understandings of their work, their colleagues, and themselves. They would also be leaving behind the familiar Columbus area home of the district conference for the new ground of ECDC Detroit in 2026.

NINE PRSA ECD CHAPTERS HELP COMMUNITIES WITH ‘WEEK OF CARING’

Nine PRSA ECD chapters help communities with "Week of Caring." Central Michigan and Detroit sorted and distributed food with area food banks, while Dayton and West Michigan packed meals for families in need. In Cincinnati, chapter members boosted literacy at the Queen City Book Bank, while Central Ohio chapter supported breast cancer awareness. Northwest Ohio members raised awareness for rare diseases and hosted a crisis communication workshop, while the Northwest Pennsylvania chapter assisted veterans at a Soldiers and Sailors Home and the Thoroughbred members in Kentucky organized a youth coat drive.
