PRSA East Central District Names PRominent Chapter Award Winners

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 28, 2025 – The Public Relations Society of America East Central District (PRSA ECD) announced today the winners of the 2025 PRominent Chapter Award, granted for outstanding service to members and the public relations profession through networking, community service and professional development.

The four chapter winners include:

  • West Michigan – Comprised of 125 PRSA members within the western half of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, from Benton Harbor to Traverse City.
  • Thoroughbred – Represents 100 public relations professionals from Lexington, Kentucky, and surrounding communities.
  • Detroit – Established in 1947 and serves as a gateway to public relations professionals for more than 250 members in metro Detroit.
  • Central Ohio – Founded in 1950 as the first society chapter in Ohio, and today serves more than 250 members in Columbus and Central Ohio.

The PRominent Award was established by PRSA ECD in 2021. The district represents 16 chapters in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Nominees for the award were required to demonstrate excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, membership outreach, community service and professional development programming.

The chapters received special recognition for their programming and support for public relations and communications college students seeking to enter communications-based professions.

“As a district board, we are honored to congratulate the West Michigan, Thoroughbred, Detroit and Central Ohio Chapters for their excellence in Chapter operations,” said Mark D. Weinstein, PRSA ECD’s 2025 Board Chair. “The PRominent Awards require chapters to demonstrate excellence in all aspects of the PRSA experience. These award-winning chapters have exemplified this high standard and are worthy of the recognition that shines on each volunteer member of their chapter.”
