PRSA East Central District Names PRominent Chapter Award Winners
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 19, 2026 – The Public Relations Society of America East Central District (PRSA ECD) announced today the winners of the 2025 PRominent Chapter Award, granted for outstanding service to members and the public relations profession through networking, community service, and professional development.
The three chapter winners include:
- Thoroughbred – Founded in 1984 and serving 83 public relations professionals from Lexington, central, and eastern Kentucky.
- Detroit – Established in 1947 and serving as a gateway to public relations professionals for 248 members in metro Detroit.
- Central Ohio – Founded in 1950 as the first society chapter in Ohio and serving 222 members in Columbus and Central Ohio.
The PRominent Award was established by PRSA ECD in 2021. The district represents 15 chapters in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Nominees for the award were required to demonstrate excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, membership outreach, community service, and professional development programming.
The chapters received special recognition for their programming and support for public relations and communications college students seeking to enter communications-based professions.
“We’re proud to recognize the Thoroughbred, Detroit, and Central Ohio Chapters for their outstanding achievement in chapter operations,” said Mark Pompilio, 2026 Chair of the PRSA East Central District Board of Directors. “Local chapters are the foundation of PRSA, and the PRominent Awards celebrate those that demonstrate excellence across the full chapter experience. This recognition is well-earned because each of these chapters has set and maintained a high standard through the dedication of their volunteer leaders and members.”
Established in 2021, this honor was first awarded to the PRSA Hoosier Chapter in 2022.
