Hello PRSA ECD Community:
As we delve into the heart of February, I am delighted to connect with you through our newsletter, weaving together the threads of significance that define this month. February not only marks American Heart Month, a time to raise awareness about heart health, but it is also the stage for Random Acts of Kindness Week and a dedicated observance of Black History Month.
In the spirit of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEI&A), let us reflect on the connections between these observances. The heart, both a physical organ and a symbol of compassion, reminds us to approach our interactions and endeavors with empathy. Random Acts of Kindness Week encourages us to create a culture of inclusivity, fostering connections that transcend boundaries. Black History Month, a celebration of resilience and achievement, invites us to honor the contributions of Black individuals to our shared history and progress.
As communicators, we play a vital role in amplifying these narratives, ensuring our messages resonate with diverse audiences. Let us use our platforms to promote understanding, unity, and accessibility for all. And speaking of unity, my virtual door is always open for questions, coffee chats and support.
On that note, I’d like to warmly invite all PRSA members across the district to join us for our upcoming monthly Coffee Chats. The next one is scheduled for February 27th at 9 a.m. This virtual gathering is a fantastic opportunity for members to discuss issues in their chapters, careers and the profession at large. It’s a chance to connect, share insights, and foster collaboration across our community. Mark your calendars, and don’t miss this engaging session!
Additionally, as we navigate the season of recognition and achievement, let’s keep in mind the launch of the 2024 award season. Many PRSA chapters throughout our district have embarked on promoting their annual awards programs, and it’s a fitting time to contemplate how you may also participate in PRSA ECD‘s upcoming PRominent, Platinum and Diamond Awards programs. These accolades celebrate excellence in our district, and I encourage you in the coming months to consider nominating chapters, individuals, and campaigns that embody the spirit of outstanding PR practices.
In the tapestry of our professional journey, each thread contributes to the vibrant narrative of PRSA ECD. As we honor American Heart Month, Random Acts of Kindness Week, and Black History Month, let’s champion DEI&A and set our sights on recognizing excellence within our community.
