ECD Chapter Spotlight: Detroit
Considering the 2025 East Central District Conference ended with the exciting announcement that ECDC will move next year to Detroit, it is only appropriate to celebrate our colleagues in the Motor City by shining the November ECD Chapter Spotlight on PRSA Detroit.
The town famous for fast cars got a fast start in building a community of public relations pros. The PRSA Detroit chapter was founded in 1945 – two years before PRSA National! Chapter President Megan Bonelli claims that as a “fun fact” about her chapter, along with being able to boast that PRSA National Chair Ray Day, APR, is a PRSA Detroit member – and of course, a proud ECD colleague!
PRSA Detroit has 242 members, including 55 APRs. Megan says chapter members’ disciplines include agency, government, non-profit, education, and corporate – health, automotive, and technology.
The chapter’s biggest project is the Annual Meeting & Celebration held each November. As for the chapter’s most notable achievement, Megan says, “Our Annual September Ethics Program brings in our largest attendance, other than Annual Meeting & Celebration, at over 100 people.”
Detroit’s secret to a happy chapter: Supportive sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and a unique mix of programming.
Congratulations PRSA Detroit – we look forward to celebrating the 2026 ECD Conference with you next September!
