ECD Chair’s March 2025 Message

,

Dear PRSA Leaders,

As public relations professionals, we have the privilege and responsibility of shaping narratives, building reputations, and fostering meaningful engagement between our organizations and the public. In an ever-evolving industry, staying ahead of trends, embracing innovation, and strengthening our professional networks is more important than ever. While PRSA provides invaluable tools and resources to help us succeed, I want to assure you that the East Central District (ECD) Board is equally committed to supporting your growth and success.

One of the ways we do this is by keeping you informed about national trends and issues impacting our profession. Recently, PRSA Chair—and ECD member—Ray Day reaffirmed that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) remain central to PRSA’s core mission (you can see Ray Day’s letter here, as well as PRSA resources here). In that same spirit, we celebrated Black History Month in February, honoring the trailblazers who have paved the way in our profession. Their leadership, resilience, and innovation have shaped the communications industry and continue to inspire us today.

We’ve also been focusing on providing you with valuable learning opportunities. Most recently, Rob McDole shared insightful AI-focused content, giving us a deeper understanding of the fast-moving world of artificial intelligence. I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch his presentation posted on ECD’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages) on three generative AI models: ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Microsoft’s Co-Pilot—it’s a must-watch for communicators navigating this new landscape.

Looking ahead, Mark Pompilio is planning an outstanding East Central District Conference Sept. 13 in Columbus, with a networking happy hour Sept. 12. While we’re still several months away, Mark is hard at work securing great speakers who will challenge and equip us with valuable insights to strengthen our careers. This conference is for all PRSA members—whether you’re in chapter leadership, serving on a committee, or just beginning your PR journey, this event is for you. Stay tuned for more details!

Finally, I want to encourage each of you to stay engaged—attend local chapter events, mentor emerging professionals, and take full advantage of PRSA’s resources. Together, we will continue to lead, innovate, and elevate the future of public relations.

Thank you for your dedication to PRSA’s East Central District. Your leadership and passion inspire us all.

Keep Moving Forward,

Mark D. Weinstein
