ECD Chair’s July 2025 Message
Dear PRSA ECD Members,
As July arrives, your board is making a bold and intentional choice: we’re hitting pause, taking a collective breath, and giving ourselves—and all ECD members—permission to recharge and refocus. In our always-on, fast-paced profession, it’s easy to forget the power of setting healthy boundaries and the benefit that comes from a little rest and reflection.
This month, we’re leading by example—pressing pause on our regular board meeting and stepping back from our PRSA roles (with the exception of our monthly newsletter and our Coffee Chat July 9). Why? Because self-care isn’t just a buzzword—it’s essential for both personal well-being and organizational success. By taking this break, we’re investing in ourselves and our community, so we can return in August with fresh energy, new ideas, and a renewed commitment to serving well.
But don’t worry—while we’re recharging, we’re also gearing up for an incredible fall! Mark your calendars for the East Central District Conference Sept. 12-13. This is your chance to dive into professional development, build your network, and get inspired by the best in our field. Registration is open—why wait? Secure your spot today and get ready to learn from industry leaders, connect with peers, and explore the latest trends in PR.
And here’s some exciting news: this may be the only PRSA conference this year (outside of ICON) to feature both PRSA President Matt Marcial and PRSA National Chair Ray Day. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from two of our top leaders!
This month also brings a special celebration: World PR Day July 16! This global event honors the vital role of public relations in building trust, managing reputations, and fostering positive relationships. Commemorating PR pioneer Ivy Lee, World PR Day is a perfect time to reflect on our core values—trust, honesty, and strategic communication. Join by sharing best practices, participating in webinars and workshops, and celebrating the impact of PR around the world.
As we embrace this month of rest and celebration, let’s remember the importance of boundaries, the value of our work, and the exciting opportunities ahead. Wishing you a wonderful July—rest up, recharge, and get ready for an amazing second half of the year. I can’t wait to reconnect in August!
Keep Moving Forward,
Mark D. Weinstein
