ECD Chair’s August 2024 Message
August 2024
Dear PRSA ECD Members,
As we close the chapter on a well-deserved July break, I trust you have had the opportunity to recharge and find moments of restorative peace. With August upon us, we’re not only stepping into a new month but also preparing to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the remaining year with fresh focus and vigorous determination.
As we transition from relaxation back to our professional endeavors, remember that the first week of August marks National Simplify Your Life Week. This observance is a gentle reminder to declutter both our physical workspaces and mental loads. Whether it’s sorting through piled-up emails, reorganizing a workspace, or reassessing our professional goals, taking the time to eliminate unnecessary complexities can significantly enhance our productivity and mental clarity. Use this week as a springboard to shed the burdensome and streamline the essential, setting a tone of efficiency and simplicity for the months ahead.
Looking further into the future, I am thrilled to invite you all to the much-anticipated QuickStart Leadership Conference, slated for Friday, September 13, and Saturday, September 14, at Falgren Mortine in Columbus, OH. This year’s theme, “Honoring the Past; Igniting Our Future: Celebrating 70 Years of PRSA East Central District,” aims to bridge the rich legacy of our organization with the dynamic future we strive to build together. A heartfelt thank you goes to PRSA ECD Chair-elect Mark Weinstein for his exceptional dedication and meticulous planning of the event. The conference will commence with a special networking event on Friday evening, generously co-sponsored and co-hosted by the Central Ohio PRSA Chapter. This gathering will celebrate our history and be a forum to forge stronger connections and share innovative ideas.
Conference Registration Details:
- PRSA Member: $70
- Non-Member: $90
- PRSSA Member: $30
This conference is an excellent opportunity for any PRSA or PRSSA chapter member keen on enhancing their leadership capabilities. Tickets are priced to ensure inclusivity and broad participation, so I encourage you to secure your place soon and join us for what promises to be an inspiring two days of learning and networking.
Moreover, I am excited to announce that the Call for Entries for this year’s Diamond Awards is now open. This is your chance to showcase the impactful campaigns and strategies that have earned accolades in your respective chapters. Submit your entries at www.prsaecd.org/awards/diamond-awards and take a step towards adding a prestigious Diamond Award to your collection.
Additionally, in keeping with our tradition of recognizing excellence, nominations are now open for the Platinum Award. This award celebrates outstanding professional service among our District members. It is named in honor of the late Donald P. Durocher, APR, Fellow PRSA, a former national PRSA board member and PRSA ECD board chair. For more information and to submit your nomination, please visit www.prsaecd.org/awards/platinum-award.
As we advance through this year, we look forward to several initiatives and updates, including our upcoming 360 Survey, details about our nominating committee and the 2024 Board slate, our monthly coffee chats, and our Leadership Forums during board meetings. We continue to thrive as a district thanks to our board members’ unwavering dedication and passion and our administrator, Jen Gilman. Your collective efforts are the backbone of our district’s success.
In closing, let me reiterate my admiration and gratitude for each of you. Your leadership, commitment, and collaborative spirit continually inspire me and drive our shared progress. Here’s to finishing the year as strongly as we started, with a clear focus and unified purpose!
Warm regards,
Jennifer
