ECD Chair’s September 2025 Message
Dear PRSA ECD Members,
As we approach the final months of 2025, I’m both inspired by all we’ve accomplished together and energized by the opportunities still ahead. September, in particular, shines with milestones worth celebrating and engaging events to participate in.
One highlight was the induction of Rick Chambers, APR, into the PRSA College of Fellows. This honor reflects not only Rick’s excellence but also the strength of leadership across our district. Since the College of Fellows was established, 31 members of our district have earned this distinction. Congratulations, Rick, on carrying this proud tradition forward!
September also marks Ethics Month, a cornerstone of our profession. PRSA’s emphasis on integrity, honesty, and transparency reminds us that without ethics, communication loses its power to build trust. I’m grateful for our shared commitment to ethical leadership—what truly sets our profession apart.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about the East Central District Conference in Dublin, Ohio, hosted at the International Center for Creativity. Thanks to our communications team—Kim Skeltis, APR (West Michigan), Jessica Meldrum, MS, APR (West Michigan), and Jordan Ferrell (West Virginia)—you’ve already seen previews of the engaging sessions and speakers planned. This conference is more than an event; it’s an opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and shape the future of public relations together. I encourage you to register and join us.
Also, in just a few days, we’ll launch our first-ever ECD Week of Caring (September 21–27), with 10 chapters participating. This initiative is a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when service and communication come together.
Finally, at ICON this year, our district has been given a special opportunity: an exclusive tour of the Pentagon and a hour questions and answers session with the Department of Defense communications team. If you’re attending and would like to join me, please email me by October 15 to reserve your spot.
It’s a busy month, yes—but one filled with celebration, connection, and momentum. Thank you for the passion, professionalism, and heart you bring to PRSA and to our district.
Keep moving forward,
Mark D. Weinstein
PRSA East Central District Chair
